    :):) a friend and former mentor at cornell just wrote me yesterday, telling me that she's praying that god will grant me the desires of my heart. well, my first response when i read that was "oh, i just spent most of sunday worship time praying that God will give me the desires of his heart!"

    It takes courage to be wholly human before God, even if that is what he created us to be. :)

    What would be ideal is when the desires of our heart are the same as the desire of God's heart for us. *sigh* can this ever be achieved in this plane of existence?

Rambling thoughts on my car accident

I have been thinking about my accident over the last few days. Not that it is at the forefront of my thoughts but I guess it is something that can't help coming up every now and then. A comment made a few days later by a church member who was at the scene of the accident (but not in the accident) brought me much cheer. She was impressed by my calmness and went about handling the matter in a "dignified" godly (?) manner. She said it was a "good testimony" (?). Never thought of it that way. But I realise that the peace I had could only have come from God. Guess it is a small sign that I am "maturing" :-) As I believe in the truth of Romans 8:28: "And we know that in a ll things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." I was wondering (as I prayed) as to what good would come out of this accident. BTW I do know that Romans 8:28 is not primarily talking about accidents etc but it is a secondar...

Forgiving the Church (Henri Nouwen)

Had to post this up! Another gem from Henri Nouwen that is so relevant for today! I have highlighted in red what especially resonates with me as it has bothered me for years that there is a fast growing number of Christians who think they can have Christ without the church. Then back to work. I have finalized my magic routine fro this Sunday - now just need to practice and coordinate with "the Weeman" so our acts flow smoothly from one to the other. Forgiving the Church When we have been wounded by the Church, our temptation is to reject it. But when we reject the Church it becomes very hard for us to keep in touch with the living Christ. When we say, "I love Jesus, but I hate the Church," we end up losing not only the Church but Jesus too. The challenge is to forgive the Church. Debate over profanity in the pulpit

Too interesting not to be highlighted. Go to the Out of Ur website for the fuller story and an interesting video clip response which I think needs to be taken serioulsy . Read the comments as well. One of the comments I found insightful is a quote bt Tony Campolo (even if I have heard it before it has stuck in my mind ...) He said ... I have three things I'd like to say today. First, while you were sleeping last night, 30,000 kids died of starvation or diseases related to malnutrition. Second, most of you don't give a sh!t.
