When we rely upon prayer, we get what God can do

Got this is my mail today ...  great food for thought and a big challenge.

When we rely upon strategy, we get what strategy can do.  When we rely upon organization, we get what organization can do.  When we rely upon goals, we get what goals can do.  When we rely upon brilliant communications, we get what brilliant communications can do.  When we rely upon networking, we get what networking can do.  When we rely upon teaching and preaching, we get what teaching and preaching can do. When we rely upon prayer, we get what God can do.

Ramblings ... a time when too many things are happening at once ...

A little disorganized this morning as too much seems to be happening at the same time. Not major things but too many little things that are like flies and mosquitoes buzzing around my ears. Very distracting. So ... its time to breathe in and out and do a little re-centering.... and blogging :-) My new modem was waiting for me at my office doorstep (arrived in the mail and I had a wee bit of a problem setting it up. Now ti is obviously up and while the connection is not what it should be, at least I have enough speed to at least open my e-mail properly and can even blog. My phone line still has background static. Headache as I know this means that I may have "cranky internal phone lines" as sometimes connection is good, and at other times it is poor. It is hard to logically troubleshoot and eliminate one problem at the time when I am tired. On Monday I came in to open up the church for the AV guy to check out AV system. Forgiving the Church (Henri Nouwen)

Had to post this up! Another gem from Henri Nouwen that is so relevant for today! I have highlighted in red what especially resonates with me as it has bothered me for years that there is a fast growing number of Christians who think they can have Christ without the church. Then back to work. I have finalized my magic routine fro this Sunday - now just need to practice and coordinate with "the Weeman" so our acts flow smoothly from one to the other. Forgiving the Church When we have been wounded by the Church, our temptation is to reject it. But when we reject the Church it becomes very hard for us to keep in touch with the living Christ. When we say, "I love Jesus, but I hate the Church," we end up losing not only the Church but Jesus too. The challenge is to forgive the Church. This challenge is especially great because the Church seldom asks us for forgiveness, at least not officially. But the Church as an often fallible human organization needs our forgiven...
